I love technology. (No, I'm not going to sing Kip's song) I get so excited to see the latest and greatest gadgets that are going to come out for the public to buy. For instance, I really want an Ipad. They are so cool and there is SO much you can do with them. I could use it for my notes to speak on Sunday mornings, use it keep in contact and follow up with the students in our ministry, I...you get the point. What am I doing here? I'm trying to justify purchasing this piece of technology. I have enough tech right now. I don't need the Ipad at this time. How about you? Do you ever find yourself in a situation like this? What does God say about our wants? Who does God say that we are?

This week we talked about our profile. We said that we are made in the image of...GOD! (that's right. Good job everyone, you remembered) We have His image imprinted on us. We have value because we are in the image of God, because He loves us. May you stop and really think about being made in the image of God this week. May you think about the implications that means in your life.

May 6

So, how much do you love technology? Would you be willing to detox your self from it for a month, a week, just a day? It's hard to with how much technology is out there. The question we want to ask this week is: How are you using technology? Is it slowly replacing God in your life? I know that's two questions but they are both good to think about. Let me know what you think.

Here you go. The last questions from our voices series. I hope you learned some things about our enemy and the voices and lies he wants us to believe in. He has nothing but our destruction in mind. He is NOT your friend.

Why is the voice from the Enemy so effective against us?

Look up the following verses: Romans 8:31,35-39. According to these verses, what are some of the basic things we can know about ourselves?

How can knowing these things, and knowing how to recognize the Enemy’s voice when we hear it, help make what Romans 16:20 says a reality in our lives? (And the God of peace will soon crush Satan underneath your feet)

What can we do to help each other recognize the Enemy’s voice?

How might your life look different if you started to hear God’s voice more clearly?

Mar 8

We began a new series yesterday called voices. We are talking about an enemy we have that wants to destroy us. Here's some questions to get you thinking this week...

How can an enemy cause problems for you or make you unhappy?

When you hear the word “devil” what do you think of? Why?

Why does it feel weird to talk about something like the devil?

Do you really think that there is an Enemy trying to devour you? Why or why not?

If there is an Enemy who is against all of us, why is it important for us to talk about him and be aware that he exists?

First Peter 5:8 says our Enemy prowls around us like a lion looking for someone to devour. Does that change your picture of the Enemy? What does that tell you about the one who is against us?

Feb 22

Ok guys, here is this week's devo. I'm into questions I guess. They do help us know where we are in life, in our relationships. So without further adieu:

Are there relationships in your life you work to maintain (call, e-mail, visit, hang out, post on FB, etc)? What determines how much effort you are willing to put into these relationships?

What are some reasons why people choose to walk away from relationships? What makes some relationships stick and some not?

What are some relationships you are willing to fight for no matter what? What makes them worth sticking with? Do you think you will always feel that way about those relationships? What might make those feelings change?

Feb 15

Have you ever had a relationship (dating or friendship) that you found yourself just not that into it at some point? That's what we're talking about in this series "Not that into you". We are discussing how at times we are just not that into our relationship with Jesus. Here are some questions to get you thinking...

In the message, we touched on the idea of not being that into God. Have you ever felt that way? Does it feel weird to say that out loud at church? Why do you think it is easier to admit not being into a friendship than it is to admit you are not into God?

Can you think of people you know who were into God, but aren’t into Him anymore? (Be careful that this doesn't’t turn into gossip.)

What would a relationship where you are not that into God look like?

We said that there are two things that generally get us to a place where we aren’t that into God—when things are going really well, and when things are going really badly. Have you seen any examples of people who were into God but drifted during good times or bad times? Which of these two things do you think has the potential to make you lose your interest in God?

Feb 8

If you had $100 in your pocket right now, what would do you with it? If you had $1,000, what would you do with it?

Before today, had you ever heard of the 80/10/10 rule? What does the 80/10/10 rule ask of you according to your finances? (Save 10%, give 10%, and use 80% for your own needs)

If you followed the 80/10/10 rule, how much money would you have after one year of saving? What could you do with that money that you couldn’t do otherwise?

Feb 1

This week we talked about how we spend our money. Here are some ?'s to get you thinking:

How can you distinguish between a “need” and a “want”?

How does what you see affect what you want? Have you ever gone to the mall or into a store for one thing and walked out with something else, or the desire for something else?

Read Matthew 6:19-21. What is a treasure that you “store up for yourself”? What does this verse mean?

What do you think about the statement, “Where you spend your money shows where your heart is”?

Where do you spend the majority of your money?

Jan 28

Ok, so last week we started a new series called the thin green line. We are discussing money. Jesus talked a lot about it. Here are some questions to get you thinking...

Have you ever seen someone giving to someone in need? How does watching something like that make you feel?

What are some things that hold you back from giving?

Have you ever given money and it cost you something (you didn’t have any money left, you didn’t know where more money was coming from)? How did it make you feel at first? How did you feel later? What if no one ever acknowledged your gift?

Why does God want us to give?

Jan 18

We just finished a series called Upside down. We talked about how we all have kingdoms and how they crash into God's kingdom. Again, here are some questions to think about this week. Love you guys!

“We need to think about the bigger world, but start acting in our own world.” What do you think it looks like for you to live out this statement? What does God’s kingdom look like in the bigger world? What does God’s kingdom look like in your world?

Have there been times in the past when you’ve participated in God’s bigger picture? When? How? How did that experience make you feel?

What is something new that you learned in this series?

I want to remind you of this thought. It has really impacted me during this series. Think about this:;

There comes a time for each one of us when we ultimately have to decide what we are going to do with our lives!

What are you going to do with yours?

Jan 4

Here are some questions to think about this week:

What did you think of the message this week?

Was there anything in the message that you heard or learned about for the first time?

When you hear the word “kingdom,” what types of words and images come to mind?

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase, “kingdom of God”?

Have you ever thought about which areas of your life are in the kingdom of God and which areas are in the kingdom of me? In other words, do you divide up your life into segments or compartments—places where your relationship with God affects how you live, and other areas where it doesn't?

How do you keep your kingdoms and God’s kingdom separate? s
